Biography

Y-Chromosome DNA Confirmed
Franklin-3422's direct paternal relationship to Franklin-2894 is confirmed because:
  1. This yDNA test of Franklin-2889 and this yDNA test of Franklin-3636 are a close match. 66/67 markers and both SNP R-CTS6919+ and match in the same subclade branch on Big Y
  2. The most recent common ancestor in the yDNA line of Franklin-2889 and the yDNA line of Franklin-3636 is Franklin-2894.


By 1825 Lewis was living in the Conecuh River Community of Covington County, Alabama, where on 15 Jan 1825 we find he voted in an election wherein his brother Solomon ran for Constable and lost. Other familiar names who had descendants marry into our Franklins also appear on this list of voters including Reubin Diamond and Wilson Bass.

In 1830 Lewis appears on the census of neighboring Conecuh County. Deeds appear in Conecuh County for land purchases in 1838 and 1845, but my 1849 we find him buying land in DeSoto Parish, Louisiana. He is buried in Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield, DeSoto Parish, Louisiana.

The 1840 census of Conecuh County, Alabama shows Lewis E. Franklin on the same page as Edward Joiner Sr and Edward Joiner Jr and Lewis is listed with the following household members:
