Louisa M was born about 1849. Louisa M was the child of Riley Franklin and Josephine Bonaparte Unknown. Louisa M passed away in 1883. [1]
My brother has uncovered some interesting information pertaining to the family of Riley and Josephine Franklin using the familysearch.org database. It concerns a daughter who married a Thomas D. CLARK in Tuscola, MI in 1867. Her name was Louisa M. FRANKLIN. For those familiar with using familysearch.org the data is available in assorted records for Michigan. She was also known as Mary "J" CLARK, Louisa FRANKLIN, Mary FRANKLIN. A death records (an actual scanned image) for the year 1883 lists her parents as Riley and Josephine FRANKLIN though her name is given as Mary "J" CLARK. After viewing records for the children of Thomas and Louisa it appears to be an error on the record regarding the middle initial. You will not find a Mary "J". Moreover, birthplace given 1849 or "about" 1850" in Arkansas. Also birthplace as "Johnstone" (Johnson) Arkansas. Combined use of census, marriage and death records of her children. Census for 1870 gives her place of birth as New York (that was where her husband was born). Louisa has also been identified as Louisa Meyers in family group sheets. Her birthplace all over the map at other times. On her death certificate it lists her mother as a resident of Evergreen in Montcalm Co., MI. Riley listed as dead. Another mystery for this very elusive family. Where were they between 1850-1867? Louisa M. FRANKLIN was only 18 years of age when she married Thomas D. CLARK. They had numerous children. A daughter died at birth. Her name given as Susannah. Another daughter Josephine may have married a HAWKINS but no children. Others did have children. Hoping one day to find an autosomal DNA match with one of the descendants. Thomas & Louisa also lived for a time near his parents in Fulton Co., OH but mostly in various counties in Michigan. Louisa died at age 33. No cause listed. Her children were very young and most would have had little memory of her. Her husband was a veteran of the Civil War and later remarried. There is a find a grave memorial for him but no mention of Louisa. Have not been able to locate any FRANKLIN's that might be related to Louisa in that area of Michigan.
