Biography

Ben E. Franklin was born in Atlanta, Mississippi[1] in December of 1847.[2][3]

Ben Franklin married Sarah Turner on 09 Sep 1873 in Pontotoc County, Mississippi.[4][5] Ben and Sarah Franklin had the following known children:

  1. William O.[1] Franklin was born in Mississippi in September of 1874.[6][7][5]
  2. Loney Franklin was born in Mississippi about 1876.[5]
  3. Donnie/Donny Franklin Donnie Franklin was born in Mississippi in December of 1880.[2][5]
  4. Georgia A. Franklin was born in December of 1883 in Mississippi.[2]
  5. Effie M. Franklin was born in January of 1890 in Mississippi.[2]
  6. Mattie M. Franklin was born in December of 1891 in Mississippi.[2]

Benjamin died in Houston, Chickasaw County, Mississippi on 22 Oct 1927[1][8] and is buried in Herndon Cemetery, Pontotoc County, Mississippi.[9] His wife Sarah, widowed, is living with their grandchildren in 1930.[10] Ben's son William O. Franklin, the informant on Ben's death certificate, was living in Springville, Pontotoc County, Mississippi at the time of his father's death in 1927.[1]

Research Note

This may be this Ben as a child with parents as this county is in the same area as Pontotoc and Chickasaw Counties. Need to trace this family and see if obituaries of the siblings of this Ben indicate he is the same person. A Y DNA test of a male Franklin direct descendant of Ben would confirm as this lineage of John A. Franklin has Y DNA tested into group FY08 in the Franklin Y DNA Project.
