Biography

Merrell Francis[1] Franklin was born 1848[2] in Alabama.[3][4]

He married Elizabeth Mahalie[1] Hazlewood on 20 May 1875 in St. Clair County, Alabama[5][6][7][4] and the couple had the following known children:

  1. William Ed Franklin was born Mar[8] 1876 in Alabama[4] and died 23 May 1942 in Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama.[1]
  2. John H. Franklin was born about 1878 in Alabama.[4]
  3. Owen Thomas Franklin was born 18 Mar 1881 in Alabama and died 27 Mar 1917 in Alabama City, Etowah County, Alabama[9][8][10]
  4. Martha Franklin was born Mar 1883 in Alabama.[8]
  5. Mary Jane Franklin was born Oct[8] 1885 and died 21 Dec 1946 in Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama.[7]
  6. Robert Franklin was born Jul 1888 in Alabama.[8]
  7. Benjamin Franklin was born Aug 1891 in Alabama.[8]

Merrell died in 1891 and is buried in Hopewell Cemetery, Ashville, St. Clair County, Alabama.[2]
