Mary Elizabeth Franklin was born on October 30, 1861, in San Augustine, Texas, her father, Matthew, was 25, and her mother, Susan, was 20. She married Zachariah Taylor Wimberley, on January 13, 1876. They had 11 children in 21 years. She died on June 26, 1901, in Wimberley, Texas, at the age of 39, and was buried there.
