Biography

Sarah Franklin was born at Boston, Massachusetts on July 9, 1696, daughter of Josiah Franklin and Abiah Folger. [1] [2]

She married James Davenport as his second wife, at Boston on May 3, 1722. [3]. [2] James was born at Dorchester, Massachusetts on March 1, 1692/3, son of Ebenezer and Dorcas (Andrews Davenport. [4] [5]

They had five children: Elizabeth, Dorcas, Mary, Josiah and Abiah. [4]

Sarah died at age 32 on May 23, 1731. [4]

After her death, James married thirdly, Mary Walker at Boston. [3] The administration of his estate was granted on June 13, 1759. [5]

Research Notes

  • Daughter Elizabeth, in several texts including NEHGR, say she married first Joseph Chapman. However, her marriage intention lists to Joseph Ingersol in 1749 Boston Marriages, lists her as Elizabeth Davenport (not Chapman).

I don't believe Franklin Davenport, attached to this profile is Sarah's child. Might possibly be a child of James' third wife Mary??? Can we remove his?
