John married Talitha Barnes on 24 December 1913 in Hopkins County, Kentucky.[4] They didn't have any children. During World War I, John, age 23, registered for the draft on 5 June 1917 in Crofton, Christian, Kentucky. He was living in Mannington, Christian, Kentucky with his wife, and was described as being of tall height and medium build, with blue eyes and light hair. He was employed by Petersburg Coal Company in Mannington.[1] By or before 1920, they moved to Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Kentucky, where he continued to work in the coal mines.[5][6][7]
John Everett "Johnnie" Franklin, age 58, died 8 September 1952 at the Caldwell County Memorial Hospital in Princeton, Caldwell, Kentucky. His death resulted from squamous-cell sarcoma of the left lung with metastasis to thoracic spine and aneurism of vertebral artery. His residence, prior to his final hospitalization, was at 307 Cross Street in Dawson Springs, Hopkins, Kentucky. His burial, like many of his relatives was at Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs.[2][8]
