Clarence was born in 1919 in Angleton, Texas. He loved flying and completed his first solo flight when only 16 years old. His career in the US Army Air Corps began at Randolph AFB, Texas, where he was a flight instructor. During WWII he was stationed in the Pacific, first in India, where he flew the Flying Fortress bomber over the "Hump", the Himalaya Mountains, and then on the island of Tinian. He had a long and successful career in the US Air Force, retiring as a Colonel in 1969. He passed away in 1999.
