No reliable documentation has yet been found for the existence of this person. She was previously linked as the wife of Ataulf of the Ostrogoths but no basis has been found for this linkage.

Argotta was born circa 376 in the Frankish Territory. ^[1]

She was known as Argotta "la Mère de tout les Roys" des Francs or, in French, Argote des Cimbres and in Swedish: Argotta av Westphalia (av Östfrankerna). ^[1]

She was the daughter of Genebald II, duke of the East Franks and Blesinde of the Suevi ^[1]

She was the sister of Amalaberge of the Franks ^[1]

Marriages

She is sometimes shown as the wife of the fictitious Pharamond, king of the Franks (Fictitious) and also Théodémir, King of the Franks at Thérouanne ^[1]

Pharamond is regarded as of questionable existence.

Theodemir has been researched, however, and his wife is unknown.

She died circa 438 (53-70) in the area which is now North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany ^[1]
