It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hi Pierre,

Thanks for your message. If you are uncertain about a location but have a good idea as regards the country adding this is better than nothing.

The Family Search Research Wiki can help if you are uncertain about a locality name at a certain time period.

Hope this helps.

Hello Pierre,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hello Pierre,

When importing from your GEDCOM, please add a location guess if there is no location information. For example, see Nicolas Frapet (abt.1640-) who appears to be likely born in France.

Read more at uncertain locations.

Thanks.

Hi Pierre,

The same issue exists for this profile you just imported: Anne Marceau (abt.1690-).

Please provide an estimate for either birth or death location.

Thanks.

Hello Pierre,

I'm seeing the same issue with Jean Joseph Delos (abt.1670-), Antoinette Six (1670-), Jean Six (abt.1670-), Unknown Hordu (abt.1640-), François Hordu (abt.1670-), Unknown Lerminez (abt.1640-), Susanne Dieugard (abt.1670-), Unknown Bochar (abt.1640-), Marie Betignies (abt.1670-), Germain Delos (1695-), Unknown Delos (abt.1640-), Germain Delos (abt.1670-), and Joseph Delos (1694-) plus the above Anne Marceau (abt.1690-) remains unlocated.

Please avoid leaving both the birth and death locations blank. For locations, our style guide says that almost any location is better than no location as locations help disambiguate similarly named people. So if you can please try to estimate the birth or death location and then explain the basis for your estimation in a = = Research Notes = = section that would be very helpful.

Thanks.

Pierre, Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, thus coordinating with others is essential.

The French Roots project seems to fit your ancestors. Leader- Isabelle Rassinot. Click the link to read how to join.

Hello Pierre,

You've been a member for a few weeks so I thought I would check in to see how it's going. Have the How-Tos been helpful or left you with questions? Most of us have questions after all that information!

I want to help! Click my name, send me a private message or ask in the comment section of my page. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile. The links will work from there.

Cindy ~ WikiTree Messenger

PS To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Thank you for volunteering. You are now a full member of WikiTree.

Start with the New Member How-To Pages - they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around:

Let me know if you require assistance. I am happy to help. After adding my own family and ancestors I have found many cousins and distant ancestors here on WikiTree.
