Biography

Ancestry page says Simon William Fraser was born 16 Apr 1821 in Cornwall, Stormont, Ontario, Canada.

I see you manage the profile for Simon William Fraser, but I do not think you know the significance of that family, and if you permit me, I will give you some info you can share with the profile managers for his father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Simon William Fraser was son of Simon Fraser Jr. and Catherine McDonell / McDonald [a McDonell connection for you]. Simon Fraser Jr. the famous Canadian Explorer who along with David Thompson of Williamstown Glengarry have their names on the two greatest rivers of British Columbia Canada [the Thompson and Fraser Rivers]. Simon and Catherine Fraser are buried at St Andrews West Ontario, 5 miles from my Cornwall home .

Simon Fraser Jr. was the son of Simon Fraser Sr. who died at Albany NY in 1779 while held prisoner of the American Patriots. I think he and 5 of his brothers all died in the service of their King George III, his wife was Isobella / Isobel Duldreggan Grant daughter of Aeneas / Angus Grant and Hannah Grant who held the Wadset for Duldreggan Glenmoriston Scotland who were also parents of my John Duldreggan Grant Lots 25 & 26 Street Road Charlottenburg Glengarry [that makes you and I cousins, cousin] ; Aeneas / Angus and Hannah were also parents of Janet / Jennet Duldreggan Grant who married her cousin Black Peter Grant one of the 8 Good Men of Glenmoriston who hid Bonnie Prince Charlie after his defeat at Culloden 1746. After Simon Fraser Sr. died 1779, Isobel Duldreggan Grant brought her children [eight I think] through the bush from NY to settle at St. Andrews West Ontario, not at Chelsea Quebec as the Profile Manager has it.

Simon Fraser Sr. was the son of William Fraser [I think the Profile Manager has him right] and Mary Ardnabie McDonell daughter of John McDonell IV Ardnabie, and sister to Donald McDonell V Ardnabie, and sister to my Captain John Dhu McDonell VI Ardnabie, and sister to Lieutenant Ranald McDonell these last 2 fought at Culloden, both were on Pearl 1773 to New York, settled Kingsborough Patent, and served King's Royal Regiment of New York aka KRRNY as did John Dhu's 5 sons including eldest son my Allen Bhuide McDonell UE [making us cousins again, this time through McDonell line] .
