Catherine Fraser was born in 1818 in Nashwaak Bridge, New Brunswick, Canada, her father, Thomas, was 34, and her mother, Mary, was 40. She married James MacLaggan in 1837 in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. They had 11 children in 21 years. She died on July 7, 1893, in her hometown, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.
