- Janet Fraser is the daughter of James Fraser of Ardachy.
- She married, firstly, John Glassich Mackenzie, 2nd of Gairloch, son of Hector Roy Mackenzie, 1st of Gairloch and Anne Macdonald.
- She married, secondly, Thomas Chisholm, The Chisholm, son of Alexander Chisholm, The Chisholm and Janet Mackenzie, in 1578. Her married name became Mackenzie. From 1578, her married name became Chisholm.
