Biography

Lucy Fraser was born sometime during 1785 to John Fraser and Lucy Adams Fraser. Lucy is believed to have been born in Montgomery County, North Carolina when her father John was 48 years old and her mother, Lucy was 35 years old.

Lucy had two brothers; older brother, William Doss Fraser and younger brother, Thomas Fraser.

In 1789, 4 year old Lucy was living in North Carolina, around the time the citizens voted to adopt the U.S. Constitution.

Lucy Fraser married William R. Sedberry in North Carolina before 1810. Lucy and William moved to Maury County, Tenneessee before 1841. They had had five sons and four daughters. Her daughters include Marthenia, Lucy, Maria and Nancy. Her sons include William Gates (Gaston), John Lawrence, George Franklin, Benjamin, and James Ruffin.

Lucy's husband, William is the brother of Elizabeth Betsy Sedberry who married Lucy's brother Thomas Fraser.

Lucy Fraser Sedberry died on June 5, 1873 in District 20 of Maury County, Tennessee. She was 80 years old.

Lucy is believed to be buried in the Hill-Haywood Cemetery, located in Carters Creek, Maury County, Tenneessee along side of her husband, William R. Sedberry.
