PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.

Hi, I am having trouble finding my GEDmatch ID number. I looked on my GEDmatch profile page and there are only two numbers, the kit number, GH 6222630, and the user ID number, 1089968. The kit was uploaded from Ancestry so I know that the GEDmatch ID should start with an A and have 6 numbers. There is nothing like that. I have not uploaded my family tree from Ancestry yet. Is there another place on the GEDmatch website where I can find that GEDmatch ID? Thank you for your help.

Hi,

Many thanks for the prompt reply. I added the kit # in the box for the GEDmatch ID # on my DNA test page and it was posted. I'm not sure what the next step is. Do I get a list of matches, and if so, where do I look for them? Lynn

I see your DNA test information on your profile now, Lynn. Each profile that you are currently connected too also has your test information displayed. WikiTree's DNA tools can't provide matches because we don't have anyone's DNA information to analyze. Instead, we help you find others who think they have the same ancestors.

To use the tools, click the DNA link from your Wiki ID menu in the upper right corner of your screen. That will show the profiles for those who you share Mito and Y DNA. If you click Fraser DNA box in the top row of buttons on that page, it will take you to a page of members named Fraser who have also tested. To see the same results for other surnames, change the surname in the URL https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:DNATests&s=Fraser to the name of interest.

For more details, I suggest the How to Get Started with DNA FAQ.

Thank you for volunteering, You are now a full member of the Wikitree community. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Please start with the How-Tos - they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around

If you click the green tags on your profile page, you'll see if other members are following the tag. Add more surnames, locations, Countries, County or interests as tags to improve links to community & research options. Information on tags is on page one of the How To pages.

Take your time, if you need any help using the site, let me know
