Archie was a marine engineer aboard ships on the Great Lakes.
During the Spanish-American war, Archie enlisted on 4 June 1898 and served in the US Navy as Machinist Mate 1st Class.
Strangely, there are two different gravesites, one in Cowlesville, Wyoming County, NY, and the other in Alden, Erie County, NY. Archie's wife, Nellie, died 20 years later and is buried at the Cowlesville site. It is possible that Archie's remains were moved at that time.
