Biography

Mark Frazier and his 2 brothers, all unmarried, migrated from Scotland to the USA around the year 1800. They settled in the western part of North Carolina, considered by the Cherokee Indians as the choice place of all known parts of the US to live & farm. Mark married a full-blood Cherokee woman. Mark owned many slaves who worked his plantation. When he became convicted that slavery was wrong, he gave each one his freedom, providing a signed declaration of freedom, the Frazier name, and either $500 or 15 acres of his land. Through this generosity, he lost most of his wealth.
