Biography

Robert Freeland, Jr. was born in Calvert Co., MD 1696. Robert died 1756 in Baltimore, MD. Robert Freeland married three times, had ten children, lived to the age of 60 years, and accumulated land holdings of 2556 acres in Calvert County, Maryland. ^[1]

1st wife. Martha Day in Calvert Co., MD, ca 1715. Martha was the daughter of Robert Day and Elizabeth Simmons. She had six children.

2nd Wife: Elizabeth Johns in Maryland, October 14, 1734. Elizabeth is the daughter of Richard Johns II and Priscilla Hutchins. She had one child.

3rd Wife: Sarah Frisby m. 1744. Sarah was born in Cecil Co., MD 1713, the daughter of Thomas Frisby and Frances Wells. She and Robert had three children:

• Rebecca Freeland b.1744. She married Edward Wilson. Rebecca and Edward became the parents of Robert Wilson in Maryland, January 28, 1764.
• Frisby Freeland in Maryland, 1747-12 Apr 1819 in Mississippi, m. Sarah Rolle (b in Talbot County Md on 25 Nov 1751, dau of Feddeman Rolle and Lydia Sherwood)
• Peregrine Freeland 1750, m Elizabeth Lockman

WILL

Robert III mentions all of his children in his will (MD. Hall of Records, Liber 30, Folio 242) except two.

• James left home early in life and was not heard of again.
• Benjamin died before his father's will was made, but his two children, Elizabeth and Robert, are included.

The will was dated 11/14/1755 and probated 2/3/1757. We are indebted to Barney Freeland for much of this information.
