Daniel served in the American Revolution enlisting 3 May 1776 in the 1st NC Regiment, Thomas Clark's company. Was with Col. Rogers, NC Regiment in the battle of Moore's Creek Bridge. Was also with the 4th Regiment under Capt. James Williams, and with General Nash's brigade under Col. James Thaxton. Late in his life he made a statement about his service in the Revolutionary War saying, "we rendezvoused in Wilmington NC, marched to Hadley's Point in South Carolina. Marched through North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland and on to Philadelphia. From thence over the Schaylkill (sic) under George Washington to the head of Elk; from thence to Shad's Ford over the Brandywine, was in the battle and marched from there to winter quarters at Valley Forge. Served in the battle of Germantown where General Nash was killed . . . was also with the army at the battle of Monmouth in New Jersey. Afterward discharged at White Plains (November 1778)".
His last will and testament was recorded in the clerk's office of Jasper county, Georgia on 29 Nov. 1844 ( Georgia Will Book 2, pages 662-663.
