Thomas Freeman was born to parents Robert Freeman and Sarah Hill on September 9, 1784 in Louisa County, Virginia.[1]. His father, Robert owned land there[2].
On September 24, 1806, a marriage bond was entered related to the impending marriage of Thomas to Martha Bailey in Goochland County[3]. Thomas appears to have moved to Barren County, Kentucky, between 1806 and 1810. The first time he appears on the Barren County, Kentucky, tax book is in 1810[4]. Tax and church records indicate a Thomas Freeman resided in, or owned property in, Barren County and Hart County[5][6][7], The 1820 Census shows he was living in Munfordville, Hart Kentucky, which is only 16 miles north of Cave City, Barren, Kentucky. After 1823 we see no other evidence that he resided anywhere other than Barren Kentucky[8][9][10][11].His name last appears in the tax book for Barren County in 1863[12]. The 1864 tax book lists Caleb, Sarah, Robert (P), and for the first time Mary Freeman. Presumably, he passed in late 1863[13].
