Martha (Freeman) Monds was born in Appalachia, in Georgia.

Martha was born February 19, 1862 in Dalton, Whitfield County, Georgia, United States. She was a daughter of Jesse Pope Freeman and Talitha Ann Cook.

Martha was married to Richard M. Varnell on October 6, 1885 in Whitfield County, Georgia, United States. Martha and Richard had the following children:

1. Jesse A. Varnell

Richard Varnell passed away in 1915 and some time between 1920 and 1930 Martha married Alexander M. Monds. Martha and Alexander had no children.

Martha passed away April 17, 1931 in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee and was laid to rest at the Fort Hill Cemetery in Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee, United States.
