Joan J. Hunsinger, 77, of Sayre, Pa., passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Robert Packer Hospital following an extended illness. Joan was born June 11, 1930 in Larksville, Pa., the daughter of the late Wilfred Freeman and Alice Kocher. She was employed for 35 years at the Thatcher/Anchor Hocking Glass Plant in Elmira Heights, N.Y. Joan attended Sayre United Methodist Church and was a member of the Skiff Bower Post 1536 V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Sayre American Legion Post Auxiliary. Joan enjoyed shuffleboard tournaments and collecting snowglobes. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Her greatest pleasure in life was family get-togethers and especially spending time with her grandchildren whom she adored.

She was predeceased by: her husband, Donald H. Hunsinger; son, Dana Stockonis; daughter, Linda Cease; brothers, Ernest Freeman, Thomas Freeman and Wilfred Freeman.

Joan is survived by: her daughters, Rita (James) VanSkiver of Waverly, N.Y. and Susan (Court) Satterly of Athens, Pa. and her sons, Michael (Jerrianne) Hunsinger of Litchfield, Pa. and Donald (Joi) Hunsinger of Sayre, Pa.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Arlene) Freeman of LeRaysville, Pa. and Freas (Bea) Freeman of Chemung, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins, and all of her special friends including those at the Keystone Manor.

Friends and family may call from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the Jay E. Lowery Funeral Home, Inc., 225 South Main St., Athens, Pa. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dianne Bentley officiating of the Sayre United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Tioga Point Cemetery.
