Biography
Daughter of William Henry Fitz Freeman 1779–1856 and Mary Campbell 1790–1854
"Phoebe Freeman was born in 1810 in Preble County, Ohio. She married on 26 March 1831 in Preble County to Benjamin Plew. To this union nine (known) children were born. About 1836/1837 the Plew family removed to Sangamon Co., Illinois in the area of Springfield. Her husband Benjamin Plew died 13 December 1860.
On November 10, 1865 Phoebe Plew married a widower Samuel South. About 1867/1868 Phoebe and her husband Samuel South along with her children and their families removed to Texas. Phoebe's brother Clarkson Freeman had made the move some eight years earlier. The family settled in the area of Lancaster where Phoebe died 8 April 1883."
