Biography

Spencer was born in 1831. He was the son of Johnson Freeman and Esther Traywick. In 1850, the family was living in Jackson County, Georgia.^[1]

He married Sarah Hayes in 1854 in Jackson County, Georgia.^[2] In 1860, he and wife, Sarah, and 3 children were living in Jackson County, Georgia. His occupation was listed as overseer on the census.^[3]

Spencer enlisted in the Company G, 16th Georgia Infantry as a private . He passed away in 1862 while serving in the Civil War.

Spencer is listed in the death record for his son, George, in 1928.^[4]
