Harriett Catherine Ruth Freeman was born on September 9, 1828, in Gerton, North Carolina, her father, the child of Dob Freeman and Elizra Watkins. She married Asa Edney[1] on September 1, 1844 in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She died on May 28, 1892, in Henderson County, North Carolina, at the age of 63, and was buried in Bat Cave, North Carolina.
