Biography
Josiah Freeman was born about January 27, 1715/1716, in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the child of Benjamin Freeman and Patience Nye.[1] He was baptized on October 28, 1716 along with his siblings. [2]
He married Bethiah Hall on March 22, 1734, in Sandwich. [3] They had at least three children during their marriage.
At the age of 54, he died on May 14, 1769, in Middleborough, Massachusetts, [4] and was buried in the Cemetery at The Green there.[5]
Probate
The will of Josiah Freeman of Middleborough was dated 19 April 1769 and proved on 5 June 1769 in Plymouth. He mentions his wife Bethiah, his seven daughters, Remember, Mary, Phebe, Lidia, Bethiah, Patience, and Lucy, and his sons, Benjamin, and Elisha (executor with his friend William Shaw). Elisha was appointed guardian of his son Benjamin, under the age of 14 years.[6]
His inventory was taken on 24 June 1769 in Middleborough and recorded on 27 November 1769 in Plymouth.[7]
