Joseph Freeman married Sarah Ann Harrison in Keyingham, Yorkshire on 3 September 1863. Her father's name was given as Watson Harrison and she was a minor. Joseph was of full age, the son of James Freeman. [3]
Joseph and Sarah Ann lived in Keyingham, Yorkshire where Joseph (following in his father's footsteps), was the local veterinary surgeon. The 1871 census showed that Sarah Ann owned property in London:
