Biography
Mahala (Freeman) Lew is a part of US Black heritage.
Mahala Freeman was the daughter of Cato Freeman (abt.1768-1853) and Lydia (Bristow) Freeman (1765-1854). She was born on the 5th of December in 1790. She was the first of nine children born free to parents who had been enslaved and emancipated with the ending of slavery in Massachusetts.
Mahala married first Zimri Lew (abt.1785-abt.1847) on August 21,1811 in Dracut, Massachusetts and they had six children.
