Gideon was from Clinton, Ohio. His wife Isabel was from Davie, North Carolina (born February 14, 1824).

He married Isabel on February 21, 1843, in Madison, Indiana (or Iowa? The "Madison" and I-state coincidence seems suspicious).

The family lived in Madison County, Iowa (or Indiana?).

He was the father of nine children, including McAnelia Freestone.

He died in Perry, Dallas, Iowa.[1] and was buried in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa [2] Find A Grave: Memorial #17056227
