Biography

Mary Mason French was born on 18 Jun 1853 in London, England to Edwin French and Mary Mason (Clark) French. Her birth was registered in St Pancras, London in the third quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Clark.[1]

Mary Mason French, born 18 Jun 1853, daughter of Edwin French, a tobacconist, & Mary Mason French, residing at Ferdinand St, was christened on 31 Jul 1853 in St Pancras.[2]

In 1861 Mary French (age 7) lived at Henry Street in Marylebone with her father Edwin (42, Messenger), mother Mary Mason (36, Laundress) and three sisters: Margaret (6, Scholar), Clara (3, Scholar), and Emily (1).[3]

Mary emigrated to the United States in or before 1876.

Mary M French (age 22) married Lewis I Addison (age 24) on 1 Sep 1876 in Orange, Essex County, New Jersey.[4]

Mary and Lewis had eight children:

In 1885 Mary Addison (age 20 to 60) lived in Newark, Essex County with her husband Louis (20 to 60) and four children: Arthur (5 to 10), May (under 5), Edna (under 5), and Bertram (under 5).[5]

In 1900 Mary Addison (age 45) lived at 330 River Street in Hoboken, Hudson County, New Jersey with her husband Louis (47, Day Labourer) and three children: Leo (7, At School), Maud (11, At School), and Arthur (23, Brakeman RR), as well as boarder Maggie Schaud (18, Housework) - Mary was born in June, she & Louis had been married 24 years, she was the mother of 8 children (6 still living), and she had arrived in the US in about 1870.[6]

Mary's husband passed away in 1920.

In 1940 Mary Addison (age 87) lived at 203 East Thirty-Third St in Manhattan, New York with two sons: Albert (55) and Leo (45).[7]

Mary Addison passed away on 11 Oct 1946 in Manhattan - her address was 135 W 106th Manhattan; she was buried in Linden, New Jersey on 14 Oct 1946; she was born 2 Jun 1857 [18 Jun 1853] in London, England; she was 89 [~93] years old; she was widowed; her occupation was housewife; her parents were Edward French & Mary Clark, both born in England; her husband's name was Lewis.[8]
