Widowed in 1825, Abel was with his daughter Alice and her husband William Jewell in Tresmeer, Cornwall in the 1851 Census.[4]
Abel died at the age of 97 at Treburtle (residence of his daughter and son-in-law) in the parish of Tresmeer, Cornwall and was buried on the 24th of September 1851 in that parish.[5]
