Mehitable French was born in 1756, the daughter of William French and Tabitha Pierce.[1][2]
Mehitable married Job Bailey, of Bradford, MA, in about 1775. They settled on Job's father's homestead in East Bradford, where they remained, right next door to his father, when the first census was taken in 1790. After about 20 years in Bradford, the family moved to Londonderry, NH for about 7 years, then finally to Wilton, NH, where they were recorded when the 1810, 1820 and 1830 censuses were taken.
The first two children appeared on the birth records of Bradford, and other children are also known from census records to have been born in Massachusetts:
