Ada was born some time between 1863 and 1865. The various Indian censuses give either of these two dates.
Name
Her clan name is given in the 1905 census as HoEChumEWinKah, of obscure meaning. Her maiden name, "Frenchman" (or "Frenshman") was revealed in her son Abel's Social Security application (Aug., 1941). The 1930 Federal census shows her first name to have been "Addie," for which "Ada" may have been short.
Education
The 1930 Federal census records that she had no formal schooling and only spoke Hocąk.
Death
The 1937 census gives the exact date of her death as 13 April 1937.
