Christian Bartel passed away in 1826, and his death is recorded in the 1834 census. His wife Dorothea is not listed in the 1834 census, and it is likely that she, too, was deceased. A footnote in this entry identifies Johannes Müller as his brother-in-law, but that is incorrect. The 1798 census clearly identifies him as Christian's son-in-law.

The 1834 census is a complex entry to read because Christian Bartel, Johannes Müller and Johannes' son Christian had all passed away. Johannes' wife Anna Sophia is not mentioned, and she had probably passed away, too. Johannes' youngest son, Johann Michael, and five of his grown grandchildren and their families continued to live in the same household with Johannes' widowed daughter-in-law, Christina Barbara.

The details from the 1834 census are formatted slightly differently to allow for easier reading and identification of the family members.
