The 1911 Census has Herbert, aged 22, living with his parents and siblings at the High Street, Crowle. Herberts occupation is recorded as Railway Porter

and he is employed by the G. C. Railway.[10]
On the 2 Apr 1911 marriage to Amy Parkinson both in residence at Crowle at time of marriage. Herbert is recorded as 22, a bachelor with the occupation of Railway Porter. Father name is recorded as Thomas Fretwell with occupation as Labourer. Amy is recorded as 21 and a spinster. Amys father is recorded as George Parkinson also with occupation as Labourer. The marriage took place in the Parish Church, Crowle. Both sign the marriage certificate.

The 1939 Register has Herbert living with his wife and three of his adult children at Church Steet, Crowle. His occupation is recorded as Steelworker.

Herbert, or his ashes, were buried in St Oswalds Churchyard, Crowle in 1962. [14]
