Biography

Amy Fretwell was born in 1874 in Bolton upon Dearne, Yorkshire, England to Richard Fretwell and Mary Ann Moore. Her birth was registered in Doncaster, Yorkshire in the last quarter of the year, with mother's maiden name Moore.^[1]

Amy Fretwell, daughter of Richard & Mary Ann, was christened on 4 May 1875 in Bolton-upon-Dearne.^[2]

In 1881 Amy Fretwell (age 6) lived at Moor Lane in Wath Upon Dearne, Yorkshire with her father Richard (38, Railway Signalman), mother Mary A (40), and four siblings: Thomas (17, Lab), Mary E (13, Scholar), John C (9, Scholar), and Fred (0), as well as lodger Henry Gernow (30, Ry Porter).^[3]

In 1891 Amy Fretwell (age 16) lived in Wath On Dearne with her father Richard (48, Railway Signalman), mother Mary A (30[50]) and two brothers: Fred (10, Scholar) and William H (8, Scholar).^[4]

In 1901 Amy Fretwell (age 26) lived in Wath upon Dearne with her father Richard (58, Railway Signalman), mother Marya (60), and two brothers: Frederick (20, Surface Labourer Coal Pit) and William H (18, Surface Labourer Coal Pit).^[5]

Amy Fretwell married John Taylor in 1903. The marriage was registered in Rotherham, Yorkshire in the third quarter of the year.^[6]
