Johannis (Johannes) Jacob Fretz was baptized on the 20th of February, 1757 in the First Dutch Reformed Church, Albany, Albany, New York. He was the son of Jacob Fretz and Margareta Ernstfretz.

Parentage in Question
Is the father Jacob Fretz, possibly the second son of "Weaver John" John Fretz (1704-1772) who married Barbara (Meyer) Fretz (abt.1710-1799). Jacob Fretz (1734-abt.1781) is known for marrying Catherine Nash, however there is possibly another wife of Jacob, Margareta Ernstpels. This from private family trees so perhaps not reliable.

Margareta's last name in the baptism record is Ernstfrets, a naming custom perhaps for daughters/wives? There is a record for a Margareta Pels (bef.1748-) in New York, possibly she is the mother in the above baptismal record.
