Elna "Ellen" Frey was born in Norra Stro, Kristianstad, Sweden on December 19, 1857. [1] She is the daughter of Johannes Frey and Hanna Akesdotter. She was Baptized on December 27, 1857. [2] [3]
Between December 1857 and 1859, Elna lived with her parents Johannes and Hanna, her brother Nils and her sister Ingar in Stensnas, Norra Stro, Kristianstad, Sweden. [4]
Between 1860 and 1868, Elna lived with her parents Johannes and Hanna, her brother Nils and her sister Ingar in Stro No. 21, Stensnas, Norra Stro, Kristianstad, Sweden. On April 1, 1860, her mother gave birth to her brother Anders; on June 14, 1863, her mother gave birth to her sister Anna; and, on December 15, 1865, her mother gave birth to her brother Carl. [5]
Between 1869 and October 1878, Elna lived with her parents Johannes and Hanna, her brothers Nils, Anders and Carl and her sisters Ingar and Anna in Stro No. 21, Norra Stro, Kristianstad, Sweden. On April 10, 1869, her mother gave birth to her sister Johanna; and, on April 30, 1872, her mother gave birth to her brother August. In 1870, her sister Ingar moved to Stro No. 3; on October 29, 1871, her brother Nils moved to Kristianstad, Kristianstad, Sweden and on October 27, 1875, her brother Anders moved to Malmo, Malmohus, Sweden. On November 8, 1875, her sister Ingar moved back home from Vinslov. [6]

Elna departed Helsingborg, Skane, Sweden and arrived at the Port of New York on August 12, 1893 aboard the Hamburg-American Lines' SS Italia. Her final destination was Chicago, Cook, Illinois. [22]
At some point she returned to visit family in Kristianstad, Sweden.
Elna, age, 50, departed Gothenburg, Vastergotland, Sweden for Hull, Yorkshire, England on September 21, 1908. [23] Elna, departed Liverpool, Lancashire, England on September 24, 1908 and arrived at the Port of New York on October 3, 1908 aboard the White Star Lines' SS Cedric. She traveled with her niece Eva Albertina Anderson, age 20. Eva's occupation was listed as servant. Their final destination was the home of Lucas George Cook, 5930 Augusta Street, Chicago, Illinois. The 1910 Federal Census listed Elna as boarding with David E. Suttie and family at 1004 North 51st Court in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. Her occupation was listed as wash-woman for families. [25]
The 1920 Federal Census listed Elna as living and working at the West Suburban Hospital on North Austin Boulevard in Oak Park Village, Cook, Illinois. Her occupation was listed as chamber maid. [26]
The 1922 Oak Park City Directory listed Elna as a wks and working and living at the West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park. [27]

At some point she returned to visit Sweden.
Elna, age, 69, departed Gothenburg, Vastergotland, Sweden on December 17, 1927 [29][30] and arrived at the Port of New York on December 26, 1927 aboard the Swedish-American Lines' SS Drottningholm. Eva's occupation was listed as laundress. Her final destination was Chicago, Illinois. [31]
The 1930 Federal Census listed Elna as living at the Swedish Covenant Old Peoples Home at 2715 Foster Avenue in Chicago, Cook, Illinois. [32]
Elna passed away on December 30, 1934 in Chicago, Cook, Illinois at age 77. [33] She was buried on January 2, 1935 in Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, Cook, Illinois. [34]
