Biography

Walter Frick was born 6 July 1859 in Illinois, the son of Frick (b. Pennsylvania) and Benson (b. Sweden). He died in Los Angeles County, California on 8 February 1951. ^[1]

Walter married Ellen Peterson. ^[2]

Walter was a farmer in Iowa in the 1890s. ^[3]

In 1910, the Frick family lived on their farm in Madison Township, Polk, Iowa. They owned the farm without a mortgage. The household included Walter Frick, 50, born in Illinois (father b. IL; mother b. Switzerland), a farmer; his wife of 21 years, Ellen, 49, born in Illinois (parents b. Switzerland), who had had six children, all of whom were living; their six children, all born in Iowa, the middle four of whom were in school: Lloyd S., 19, a laborer on the farm; Laura, 18; Forest A., 16; Florence S., 13; Frances M., 7; and Lester L., 2. ^[4]

In 1920, the Frick family lived at 1627 E. Ocean Ave. Long Beach, California. The household included Walter, 61, who owned their house free and clear, born in Illinois, whose father was b. PA, and his mother was b. Sweden; his wife Ellen, 58, b. Illinois, whose parents were b. Sweden; their two children, both in school, daughter Francis M., 17, b. Iowa; and son Lester L., 12, b. Illinois; and two boarders, Mr. H.C. Peterson, 55, a widow, b. Illinois, whose parents were b. Sweden; and Georgia A. Peterson, 19, single, a bookkeeper for an insurance company, b. Iowa, whose father was b. Illinois, and her mother was b. Ohio. (her father was probably H.C. Peterson). ^[5]

Walter is buried with his wife Ellen in Sunnyside Cemetery, Long Beach, California. ^[6]
