Ford Frick is Notable.

Ford Christopher Frick was an American sportswriter and baseball executive. After working as a teacher and as a sportswriter for the New York American, he served as public relations director of the National League (NL), then as the league's president from 1934 to 1951. He was the third Commissioner of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1951 to 1965.

Ford was born on 19 December 1894 on a farm in Wawaka, Noble County, Indiana. He went to high school in Rome City. In the 1910 census Ford (age 15) was the single son of Jacob B Frick in Orange, Noble, Indiana, United States.^[1]

Ford married Elenor Cowing on 16 September 1916 in Walsenburg, Huerfano, Colorado, United States.^[2] Ford and Eleanor in a directory in 1917 at 1336 N. Weber, Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. He was a high school teacher.^[3] Ford was in a directory in 1920 at 3 Columbia Apts, Colorado Springs, Colorado, United States. He was an engineer at Colorado College.^[4] In the 1925 census Ford (age 32) was a journalist and the head of household in New York, Queens.^[5] In the 1930 census Ford (age 37), Journalist, was the married head of household at 15 Gramatan Gardens, Bronxville, Westchester, New York, United States.^[6]

Ford, Eleanor, and son Frederick sailed on the Saturnia from New York on 8 February 1934 and returned on 25 February 1934. They lived at 15 Granton Gardens, Bronxville, New York.^[7] Ford and Eleanor sailed on the Santa Elena from New York on 16 February 1935, arriving in Los Angeles, California, on 3 March 1935.^[8] Eleanor and Ford sailed on the Santa Rosa from New York on 15 February 1936, arriving in Los Angeles, California, on 1 March 1936. They lived at 129 Delwood Road, Bronxville, New York.^[9] Eleanor and Ford sailed on the ship Tela from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, arriving on 7 March 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. They still lived at 129 Delwood Road, Bronxville, New York.^[10] Eleanor and Ford sailed on the ship Santa Elena from New York on 11 February 1938 and arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico, United States. They still lived at 129 Delwood Road, Bronxville, New York.^[11] They returned to New York on the Santa Elena on 1 March 1938.^[12] Eleanor and Ford sailed from Naples, Italy, on the Vulcania on 7 January 1939 and arrived on 19 January 1939 in New York, New York.^[13]

In the 1940 census Ford (age 45) was the married head of household in Ward 11, Yonkers, Yonkers City, Westchester, New York, United States.^[14] Ford and Eleanor sailed in cabin class on S. S. Santa Paula on voyage # 24 from New York on 8 February 1952, returning to New York on 20 February 1952. They lived at 16 Edgewood Drive in Bronxville.^[15] Ford and Eleanor flew from Paris to New York on Pan American Airways Flight 115-05, arriving on 6 November 1953.^[16] Ford and Eleanor flew first class on Air France from Mexico City to Idlewild, New York, arriving on 16 April 1955.^[17]

Frick died on April 8, 1978 at age 83, at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, New York. He had a series of strokes and hospitalizations in his later years, and had been in the hospital for a month before his death.^[18][19][20] Funeral services were private.^[21] He was buried in Christ Church Columbarium in Bronxville, Westchester, New York, United States.^[22]
