Caspar David Friedrich is Notable.

Caspar was born in 1774. He passed away in 1840.

He was German Romantic landscape painter, generally considered the most important German artist of his generation.

  • s/o Adolph Gottlieb Friedrich & Sophie Bechly[1]
  • almost drowned but was (supposedly) saved by his brother, Johan - who later drowned in a skating accident where Caspar was not in danger but present and witness the event[2]

  • bouts of depression
  • when he was older, he often succumbed to delusions of persecution and occasional fits of violence[3]
  • Buried in Dresden's Trinitatis-Friedhof (Trinity Cemetery) east of the city centre (the entrance to which he had painted some 15 years earlier)[4]
