Biography

Richard Friend (Richard 5, James 4, John 3, James 2, John 1), son of Richard and Hannah (Ober) Friend, was born 14 Jan 1766 in Wenham, Massachusetts. [1]

Richard Jr. Friend and Mrs Martha Kimball, both of Wenham, registered marriage intention 28 Aug 1786 at Wenham, Massachusetts, [2] and were married at Gloucester, Massachusetts, on 21 Oct 1787 [3]

They moved to Gloucester about 1796 where Richard was occupied as a carpenter and builder of the fisheries, a director of the Gloucester Bank from 1796, and in the shipping insurance business. He was a deacon of the Unitarian-Universalist Church from 1832 and served on various parish committees 1831-1833. [1]
