Will of Joseph Friend (Will Book No. 1. 228), probated May 6, 1806, Letters of Testamentary issued to John and William Friend same day. "Testator gives all his estate, real and personal, to his wife Rachel (Rose) and his sons, John, Joseph, William, Jonas, and Jacob, and his youngest daughter Rose. He desires that his son Jacob and his daughter Rose be educated and supported out of the profits of the estate. He also desires that an indentured servant Rebecca Ann Miller should be paid her freedom dues. He also gives to his married daughters, Mary Drenning, Elizabeth Wilson, Sarah Williams, and Rachel McCaslin, the sum of 50 pounds each." Joseph Friend, Jr. and John Friend are witnesses to the will.
