George was born about 1790, the son of Samuel Friend and Elizabeth Goodhart. In 1818, when he was about 28 years old, he married Sarah Harden.[1] In 1850, the family was in Perry Township, Hocking County, Ohio, where George was farming and valued his real estate at $2,600. The household consisted of George (60, PA), Sarah (54, PA) and eight children: Mary (25, OH), Isaac (23, OH), Sarah (21, OH), Alfred (19, OH), Sampson (16, OH), Elizabeth (13, OH), Mariah (11, OH) and John (8, OH).[2]
He passed away between 1870-1880 (viz. He was in the 1870 Census, age 80, widower, but there is no death record for him, he left no will, and burial is unknown.
