Published in the Messenger of Truth Issue 6, 1946:

Our dear mother, Susan Reimer, nee Friesen, was born June 14, 1863 in South Russia, and departed this life Jan. 12, 1946, at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 29 days. In the year 1874, at the age of eleven, she immigrated with her parents to Canada, settling in the village of Steinbach, Man.

In the first year in Canada she lost her father when going to Winnipeg on a trip where they had to cross the Red River on a boat and accidently the boat upset, in which father and his friend were in and they both drowned, which made it very hard for her mother and the family. She found her Saviour in her young years and was added unto the church of God in Christ, Mennonite thru baptism, where she remained true and faithful to her end. She was very much concerned about her children, and also about the grandchildren, that they might all be saved to meet her on that glorious resurrection morning.

On April 6, 1884 she united in marriage to Wm. W. Reimer, who was taken from her side August 8, 1944, after sharing joys and sorrows for 60 years, 4 months, and 2 days. To this union were born 10 children, of which 7 are living; 2 died in infancy, and one daughter died at the age of 22 years.

In her younger years our dear mother went thru much sickness. In the later years she enjoyed good health most of the time, except for about one year in which she grew weaker and needed more care. Her prayer often was that God might take her home to be with father again and she also spent much of her time in reciting poems and singing in which she received many blessings. One of her favorite hymns was, Gross ist Herr deine Guete. She became sick Jan. 6, and the last 2 days suffered much but patiently.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 15, in the Rosedale church near home. In the home Min. G. De-Veer read 1 Cor. 5:51-58 and spoke a few words of comfort and prayer. In the church introduction by P. F. Text G. DeVeer, Psa. 90:1-10. Burial was made nearby.
