The marriage of Miss A. Lorraine Fritz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter L. Fritz, of Aston Mill road, Media, and William D. Mathewson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank L. Mathewson, of Montchanin, Del., will be solemnized on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 20, at 3 o'clock in Mt. Hope Methodist Church. Rev. Philip M. Worth will perform the ceremony.
The bride will have as her attendants, Miss Jane C. Hutchison, as maid fo honor, and Alice M. Blackburn, sister of the bridegroom, Montchanin, Del., and Miss Barbara Frampton, of Chester Plaza, as bridesmaids, and Judy A. Fritz, niece of the bride, of Camden, Del., as flower girl.
Frank L. Mathewson will be best man for his brother and the ushers will be Frank W. Fritz, of Chester, and Earl Martens, of Talleyville, Del.

VILLAGE GREEN -- Mr. and Mrs. Ellwood H. Smith of Old Pennell Road, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary next Saturday at a reception from 2 to 4 p.m. in Habbersett Hall of Mount Hope Methodist Church.
Their children, Ellwood W. of Convent Road; James W. of Riddlewood and Mrs. Mary Smith Chandler of Concord, and their six grandchildren, will be the hosts.
The Smiths were married in First Baptist Church, Chester, by Rev. J. M. Childrey. The bride of yesteryear was Miss Sarah Watterson of Upland. Still actively self-employed in building, Mr. Smith attends Mt. Hope Church where he is a member of the board and a trustee.

Obituaries
SMITH
Elwood H. Smith, 85, of Old Pennell Road, Aston, died Friday in Riddle Memorial Hospital, Middletown.
He was the husband of the late Sarah Watterson Smith.
He was born in Chelsea, Bethel, and had lived in Village Green for 60 years.
Smith at one time hauled garnet from the garnet mines in Chelsea to the railroad station in Chester Heights by mule team. He also built homes for a short period on California.
He was a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where he was a trustee and member of the administrative board and treasurer for 25 years. He was also a member of the Aston Retired Men's Club.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Chandler, of Media; two sons, James W. Smith of Media, and Elwood W. Smith, of Aston; a brother, William M. Smith, of Garden Grove, Calif.; six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Imschweiler Brower Funeral Home, 1600 Edgmont Avenue, Chester. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Aston.
Calling hours will be Monday evening at the funeral home.

A lifelong Delaware County residents, Mrs. Fritz, the former Alice Burns, daughter of the late William and Isabella Nicholas Burns, was born in Chester and lived 52 years at her late residence. She was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Aston and its Berean Bible Class. Her husband died in 1957. She is survived by three sons, Walter L. Fritz Jr. of Dover, Del.; Frank W. of West Chester and C. Lashelle of Upper Chichester; two daughters, Mrs. Isabelle F. Smith and Mrs. Lorraine F. Mathewson, both of Aston; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 pm.m Tuesday at the George H. Brower Funeral Home, 1600 Edgmont Ave., Chester. Burial will be in Mt.
