Thomas Frost was born in Derby, Derbyshire.His birth was registered in Derby in the fourth quarter of 1855^[1], and he was christened in Derby on 27 January 1856^[2]. He was the son of John Frost and Maria Holehouse.

Thomas married Emma Mart in Derby on 2 May 1878^[4].
