Biography

Anna Clark Frost was born at Wayne, Maine in 1824, the daughter of Jonathan Sewall Frost (1801-1867) and Charlotte V Gage (1805-1890).

She married Elbridge Gary Blackwell at Boston, Massachusetts on 4 May 1850. They were the parents of five known children:

1. Stillman Howard Blackwell b. 17 Mar 1851 at Boston, d. 19 Feb 1853 at Leominster, Massachusetts;
2. Clarence Frost Blackwell b. 15 Dec 1854 at Leominster, d. 26 Mar 1928 at Multnomah, Oregon;
3. Edith M Blackwell b. about 1857 at Leominster, d. 9 Jun 1864 at Boston;
4. Cora Ann Blackwell b. May 1860 at Joliet, Illinois, d. 20 Dec 1934 at Massachusetts;
5. Charlotte Maria Blackwell b. 16 Feb 1866 at Boston.

The 1860 US census for Newton, Massachusetts lists residents E G Blackwell (27), born in Maine, a piano forte maker, Anna C (36), born in Maine, Clarence F (6), born in Massachusetts, a student, Edith M (4), born in Massachusetts, and Cora Ann (2), born in Illinois. E.G. has a personal estate of $600.

The 1865 Massachusetts State census for Boston, Massachusetts lists residents Elbridge G Blackwill [sic] (41), born in Maine, employment with piano forte, Anna C (41), born in Maine, Clarance [sic] F (10) and Cora M (7), born in Ireland [sic].

The 1870 US census for Boston, Massachusetts lists residents Elbridge Blackwell (46(, works on pianos, Anna C (46), Clarence (15, a student, Cora (11), a student, Lottie (4) and Charles Dexter (20), born in Maine, also works on pianos. Elbridge has a personal estate valued at $500.

The 1880 US census for Boston, Massachusetts lists the residents of a home at 30 East Springfield Street in the household of E. G. Blackwell (56), born in Maine, employed in a piano factory, his wife Annie C (55), born in Maine, daughter Cora A (21), born in Illinois, daughter Charlotte (14), born in Massachusetts, a student, boarder Carrie M Frank (45), born in Massachusetts, a single seamstress, Mattie Norris (37), born in Maine, also a single seamstress, widow Hannah Wyman (61), born in Massachusetts, and Frank H Wyman (20), born in Massachusetts, a clerk in a store.

She passed away in 1890 and is buried at the Evergreen Cemetery, Wayne, Maine.
