Biography
Susannah (Frowde) Pellew was born in East Knoyle, Wiltshire, England.
Susannah Frowde was the second daughter of Sir James Frowde, Baronet of East Knoyle, Wiltshire, England.[citation needed]
Susannah (often "Susan") was born about 1756 and baptised 25 June 1756 at Sedgehill, Wiltshire.
[1]
St Mary Church, East Knoyle, Wiltshire
She married Edward Pellew on 28 May 1783 at East Knoyle, Wiltshire
[2][3]. Edward was some years into a long and distinguished naval career, with significant periods away from home over the next few decades. The couple lived in Truro, Cornwall, for a few years after their marriage until moving to Mylor, near Falmouth.
She and Edward had six children born (christened) in Cornwall between 1785 and 1799:
Their longest separation was for about five years, between about 1805 and 1810, when Edward was appointed Commander-in-Chief of the East Indies Station. During this time Susannah took in a young woman, Jane Smith, who came to regard the Pellews as her adopted parents.
[10]
In 1814 Edward was made Baron Exmouth of Canonteign, and in December 1816 he was created 1st Viscount Exmouth. He bought Bitton House in Teignmouth in 1812 and it was their home until their deaths two decades later.[11]
St James Church, Christow, Devon
Her husband died in January 1833 and was buried at St James Churchyard, Christow, Devon.[12]
Edward's will [13][14] was proved by the oath of his widow, with a personal estate of under ₤80,000 as well as considerable landed property.[15]
Susannah died four years later and was also buried at St James Churchyard on 4 November 1937, aged 81 years.
[16][17][18]
The Will of The Right Honorable Susan Viscountess Exmouth was administered 15 November 1837.

Research Notes
Birth year and age at death: Taylor (2012) gives her age at marriage as 18 years (p.55) and age at death as 71 years (p.305). This is around 10 years younger than other evidence. This is perpetuated in the Wikipedia article (which simultaneously gives her birth year as 1756).
No source has been located for the opening assertion that her father was a Sir or a Baronet. Taylor (2012) states he was "a local gentleman entitled to the use of Esquire and with extensive lands to his name" (p.55). The name of her mother has not yet been found.
Taylor (2012) further states that her children had 33 grandchildren between them, with Julia being childless but happily married.
Also buried at St James Churchyard are the 5th, 7th, and 8th Viscounts Exmouth.
