On 15 Jun 1773 in , BERKELEY County, Virginia, Bartholomew signed a petition "praying that a road may be opened from Dennis Owans, leading by his mill to William Cochrain's, Ordered that James Buckles, William Rush, Jonothan Seeman, Jr., and Samuel Willson or any three of them do view the ground." The petition shows that Fryatt also operated a mill in the area.

Death

He died between 21 November 1793 and 17 December 1793 in Berkeley County, Virginia, USA.

Will

In the name of God, Amen. I, Bartholomew Fryatt of the County of Berkeley and State of Virginia, calling to mind the mortality of this my body, but of sound mind and understanding, to will and bequeath all those earthly Goods that God has been pleased to bestow upon me in the manner and form following:

I commend my body to the dust to be buried in decent and Christian manner and my Spirit to God that gave it to me;

And first to my dearly beloved son, John Fryat, to whom I have already heretofore gave a full proportion of my earthly goods, I will and bequeath one shilling sterling if demanded.

To my dearly beloved daughters: Margaret, Ann, Mary, Rosanna and Elizabeth, to all of whom I have already heretofore gave a full proportion of my earthly goods, I will and bequeath to each and every of them and their heirs one shilling sterling if demanded.

To my dearly beloved son Robert Fryatt, to whom I have heretofore gave a full proportion of my earthly goods, I will and bequeath also one shilling sterling if demanded.

To my dearly beloved son Edmond Fryatt, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns foreever, I will all that certain messuage, tenement and tract of land whereon he, the said Edmond now lives, containing sixty acres as per survey made heretofore by William James, together with all and singular the advantages and appurtances threunto belonging whatsoever.

To my dearly beloved son Bartholomew Fryatt I will and bequeath the whole and residue of my real and personal estate debts, dues, and demands whatsoever; yet subject to the following restrictions and reservations hereinafter reserved.

An reservation first that my dearly beloved wife Rosanna Fryat shall be entitled to the one third part of the yearly and annual profits of the farm and plantation whereon I now live for and during her natural life also the pasturage, forage, and support of one horse and one cow and calf of her own choice of all my stock. Also her choice a bed and furniture complete with a double change of sheets. Also the full free and uninterrupted enjoyment of any one room in the house;

Uninterrupted freedom of egress and regress to and from the same. Also a constant supply of wood cut and hauled to her door &c.

Reservation second: that my son Bartholomew Fryatt shall support, maintain, and decently clothe my unfortunate yet dearly beloved son William Fryatt in the same manner and form as he has been accustomed to in my family for and during the full term of his, the said William's natural life; and provided my son Bartholomew Fryat should die before it may please God to remove my son William by death, then in such case I do hereby constitute and appoint my dearly beloved sons John and Edmond as guardian to execute proper and suitable nurture and maintainance for my son William Fryatt for and during his natural life and for the defraying of said expense they shall be hereby fully and legally authorized to demand suit for and recover from said Bartholomew Fryatt's estate for the annual discharge of the same and for this purpose aforesaid I do hereby bind this land and real estate. But if so be my son Bartholomew Fryatt shall will and freely do and perform a brother's duty to his brother William Fryatt aforesaid according to this my will and testament; then my will is to give unto him my son Bartholomew Fryatt this land in fee simple, his heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns for ever.

Furthermore I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Bartholomew Fryatt and John Fryatt and my wife Rosanna Fryatt my executors to execute this my last will and testament and in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Twenty first day of November in the year of our Lord 1793.[2] His estate was inventoried and presented to the court on 16 Sep 1794.[3]
